Cut out one meal a day

You read that right - cut out one complete meal a day. It's the single biggest thing you can do to lose weight. Which meal? Dinner. It's a massive test of will power but if you can master this, you absolutely will lose weight. Have a small breakfast to get you going in the morning - I recommend a bowl of cereal with 2% or semi-skimmed milk, and a sprinkling of sugar if you have a sweet tooth. Have a glass of water or orange juice with it and then go about your day. At lunch time, make some sensible food choices and have a good sized lunch - this will set you up for the rest of the day. Come dinner time, have another bowl of cereal, or a granola bar or cereal bar (but pick wisely - some are loaded with sugar and fats).

The absolute worst thing you can do is have a large meal in the evening. If you ingest that amount of food then sit and watch TV before going to bed, you're taking in a huge amount of calories and then doing nothing to expend them. Your body will process that food whilst you're asleep and it will all go to the wrong place.

The PS3 in 'the PS3 Diet'

So here's why I call this the PS3 diet. People like to eat. I like to eat. I used to love dinner but I'm now firm friends with that hungry feeling in the evening. The key to success here is do not snack. It's the worst thing you can do. Watching TV doesn't help - you'll be inclined to graze on a bowl of potato chips or peanuts, or have a beer, or otherwise eat something - anything just out of idle habit. You absolutely must do something to engage your brain and keep your hands busy. Distract yourself enough and you'll forget how hungry you feel and the by the time you go to bed you'll discover you skipped dinner. How to accomplish this? In my case, the PS3. Specifically Call Of Duty 4 on the PS3. After my evening bowl of cereal, I watch some TV and when the hunger pangs start I fire up the Playstation and pop in the game. For a full three hours I can play that game online at the exclusion of everything else. It keeps my mind busy, it keeps my hands busy, and importantly it stops me from grazing. It's absolutely true:
